Up and Coming
This past Sunday, September 18th I had the pleasure of interviewing Red Sox prospect Chris Jones. He played with the Lowell Spinners this past season, and his team just missed the wild card. The interview was just posted here on the Royal Rooters message board, so do drop in if you would like to see a glimpse of the team’s future. Not as though Terry Francona would actually send them to the mound if these young pitchers were on the team, but that’s another post.

Great interview. He seemed a lot more poised and ready to deal with uncomfortable topics than I'd expect a guy in single A to be (mainly his injury and growing up rooting for another team).

Thanks, twitch. I recall you had a plantar injury. Was it similar to Jones's?
I was glad he was forthcoming about the Instructional League. I wish I could be a fly on the wall for the classroom sessions.

Mine was much less serious. I have plantar fascitis, which is pretty much under control with shoe inserts and stretching, and 2 of the plantar tendons in my right foot were strained in August 2003 when I took a bad, twisting step. A cortisone shot and immobilization fixed the really bad one, and the other healed on its own. The one that didn't get a cortisone shot is occassionally painful, but stretching and staying off that foot for a few days takes care of it.
